You can see the skyline of the ruined city to the north and east; the south bank of the river rises up to meet a tall chain-link fence. Raindrops fall but fail to purify the melancholy of the liver-brown water. EXITS: [ north ] Dockside. You swim through the slimy water to the dock and clamber up onto it, dripping wet. [ south ] River's Edge. You swim off southward. At length your feet touch ground and, dripping with water and slime, you stagger onto ... This place has a certain ambiance... A mutant fur-bearing trout leaps out of the river in front of you. A slab of orange styrofoam floats by. Bubbles float to the surface and release a foul odor. A plastic Baggie floats by. A plank of wood floats by. An armless pink plastic baby doll floats by. |
